Instead of identical repeating houses, standardized elements are used in varying combinations in each home. The irregular site characteristics are resolved with exterior features that are blended directly into the buildings as extensions of the topography.

The project develops individual identity and privacy for the residents, while allowing them to feel a part of a community with a consistent visual character.

CHALLENGE Architect and developer create an economical planned neighborhood with a coordinated yet individualized aesthetic; which can respond to the regular site conditions.

SOLUTION A “rural hillside village” was conceived to evolve from the topography. Spatial modules of varying shape, size, and color, were combined in each home to provide variety within a cost effective modular construction system.
